Nirvana is thrilled to announce we are starting 2021 with a new local focus on our nonprofit fundraising.

Just less than a year ago, we were hard at work developing our menus and continuing design on a new tea house that would set the scene for a unique local gathering place in Millis. 

Then, COVID. 

It changed almost everything. Honestly, we had to take a pause and decide if we would realistically be moving forward in the midst of the overwhelming challenges and the uncertainty that loomed over the entire world. Though not the easy road, we pushed through on our plans to open — even with the state?s strictest of guidelines in place. It couldn?t get any worse, right? We often chose that road less traveled, knowing we were setting out to do things a little differently. 

Sustainability. Compassion. Community. Inclusivity. And fair, consistent, and reliable pay for our team. These are at the core of what Nirvana is. And this meant paying more than three times the standard hourly rate for a tipped service worker. It opened a new avenue for us to support sustainability, encourage compassion and develop community whereby, in lieu of tips, we welcome our guests to donate to a variety of nonprofits that help to create and inspire a positive difference for the earth, the animals, and the people that need us now more than ever. 

Today we announce the support of three new nonprofits chosen for the incredible impact they have right here in our own community. 

Unity Farm Sanctuary, Sherborn, MA – The mission of Unity Farm Sanctuary is to provide a safe and loving lifelong home for farm animals, to offer the public unique educational programs, and to promote a culture of kindness and connection. 

Habitat for Humanity – our local Habitat for Humanity team partners with families in need of housing with the shared belief that everyone everywhere deserves a healthy, affordable place to call home. 

Millis Food Pantry – established and maintained by the generosity of the Millis community, the Millis Food Pantry provides year-round support and non-perishable food items for our neighbors in need.
